Finally a new Halite snapshot has been release. It’s an unstable build but has been working quite well for me. Configurations from the last stable should load fine, mileage may vary for older version.

For the sake of clairity I’ve adopted to notation of using a odd number to signify unstable releases. The indicator number being the second least significant digit, i.e. 0.3.3.0

Changes:
+ from v 0.3.2.1 to 0.3.3.0:
1) Announce to all trackers.
2) Magnet URIs support added.
3) Download complete balloon notification.
4) Right aligned numeric columns.
5) Super-seeding.
6) File renaming (not fully exposed by UI).
7) Updated to libtorrent 0.15.1
- brings significant optimizations and bug fixes.

Halite Snapshot v 0.3.1.8

I’ve released a new Halite snapshot to SourceForge.net.

First, and very important, there is a known problem where if UPnP is turned off then Halite can crash (quite frequently) at startup. This is a problem in the underlying libtorrent layer and is being worked on. I was going to wait till that issue were fixed but a recent vulnerability in libtorrent has prompted this earlier release.

Anyway to address the UPnP issues that feature is hardcoded always on. I know some will not like this but it is temporary, once the bug is fixed I’ll release that correct version ASAP.

Otherwise a new feature is the shutdown scheduler. Feel free to suggest other functions for that feature but note, for reasons already discussed here, a ‘shutdown when downloads are finished’ or similar option is not planned.

I’m happy to announce a new Halite build, version 0.3. This build was a long time in development but it brings with it two major new features over the previous version 0.2.9, those being protocol encryption and file selection within torrents.

The translations have probably fallen out of sync but I will update them as I receive them rather than waiting for the next snapshots, or worse, the next stable build.
