A new (and partially satisfied) user!

Hello all, I've used Utorrent for most of my torrent life and was please for the most part with my speeds, having only a lowly 1mb or so connection. But having recently upgraded to an "upto" 20mbs connection, I noticed no matter what I did my DL speeds were bearly into the triple digits.

And after reading the so called acquisition of Utorrent, I decided to finally try something else and found within the very same forum thread about Halite, I chose to give it a try.

I'm glad I did, a download I had going on Utorrent was only 15kbps, using the exact same torrent on Halite, I got 50-150 (though it never stays in the triples for long)

This client is, on the whole better than Utorrent and I have to thank the Dev team for a great job. Another thanks for the guy who made the tcpip patch.
I *think* it's working but to be honest, I haven't noticed much difference. If you wish, I could upload screenshots of all my Halite settings so you can suggest any changes that I can make.

Here's hoping Halite only gets better with age!

It's nice to see new satisfied users around here: it shows Halite is slowly spreading around.
A Wiki is still on the way, ao when it's done, avery user will be able to see how to configure Halite correctly.
As for your config, just try to copy the one you had with uTraitor....if it was correct, you should fly easily. tongue

Heh, I can't. I got rid of it as soon as I saw how much quicker Halite is.

Ok....let's see: This calculator might come in handy. It's made for Azureus, but I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work for Halite too.
Tweak and see what speeds you can get with some Linuz Distros torrents (they're usually the fastest around). tongue

Re: A new (and partially satisfied) user!

Howdy all! (rather than create a new thread for every new user, thought i might as well put this post in here)

ex uTorrent, new Halite user here!

After reading up on quite a few problems with uTorrent and other clients i came to the conclusion that i needed an open source, and non bloating program. Halite definitely seems to fit the bill nicely!
Im quite happy with the potential of this program and am happy to throw my support behind it. I have a few problems with the program that readin through the old threads on the forum havent helped with (yes ive created a thread in troubleshooting).
Hope everyone is well !

Yeah, I just got up to 1600kbps on a torrent. I never got that on Utorrent, now I'm never going back to it!

My highest speed was on bitGAMER when it just barely got up to 1 megabyte/s with my 7 megabyte connection, I can't get any good speeds at all on any public trackers.  The best experiences with public trackers have been on The pirate bay.

Well, Halite is still a work in progress, so let's hope in the near future you'll be able to use all your 7 mb. wink
